I can’t stop thinking about other people’s suffering.
I think I might be overly affected by other people’s suffering. When I read about someone being seriously hurt, I can’t just move on from it — I keep imagining what they must have felt and it stays in my head.
Recently I read a Quora post claiming (by a nurse intern who served at Mobile trauma unit that was on site for hightschool sports like gymnastic, football etc) that during high-school karate event there is sparring time in between and some girls deliberately kicked male opponents in the groin.
The writer claimed that some of the boys experienced extreme pain, collapsed and vomited, and that some spectators even clapped.
I dont know how can someone (regardless of gender) so unemphatic that caus this much suffering to others intentionally and dont even regret it, like when i read these storys i literally burst from the anger.
I know this was just one person’s account and I don’t know how accurate it was, but it really disturbed me. I feel so much empathy for people who suffer that I almost feel like I need to understand or somehow imagine their pain myself.
Does anyone else experience this? How do you stop other people’s suffering from staying in your head?
