I’ve just released Smackbox V2 1.5. It started as a hybrid drum synth, and this update is my attempt to make it useful for building and performing complete beats too.

There’s now a 12-pad sequencer with four patterns, per-row straight/triplet divisions, song chains, live MIDI control and MIDI output. The sound-design side adds a dispersion stage and three resonator banks. I’ve found them particularly good for hats, crashes, metallic percussion, and giving synthetic sounds a more physical body.

Here’s a short video of the resonator/dispersion side, no samples used!

The demo is at https://dropshotaudio.com, it’s €79, with the 1.5 update free for existing owners.

I’m happy to answer questions about the resonator implementation, host sync, MIDI output, or why the sequencer uses independent per-row timing.
