I seriously wish more people knew about the existence of Relistor (the anti opioid constipation drug)
I've been prescribed it for about a year now, and it's a genuine miracle drug. Relistor, aka methylnaltrexone, is a medication (the only medication) specifically for opioid induced constipation. It's insane, one dose will literally transform your rock hard rabbit shits into normal soft poop, and it works 100% of the time with next to no side effects.
It works like the opposite of Imodium, being an antagonist that doesn't cross the blood brain barrier instead of an agonist, making you shit without inducing withdrawal (as opposed to Imodium making you constipated without getting you high). Since it's a sister drug to naltrexone, it also has the other benefits of it, such as not building tolerance to itself and general long term safety. It's literally better for you than any OTC laxative. The only 'side effect' I've experienced is that the period between dosing and taking a shit is somewhat uncomfortable, but that's just what happens when the stuff inside your guts has to entirely change its composition in 15 minutes lmao.
Before taking Relistor I'd literally have to make myself withdraw to poop, and it worked for me, so I doubt there's any case too severe for this stuff to work its magic.
Seriously, if you're a long term user (or patient!) with constipation related horror stories (as most of us have) and any remote way to get your hands on this, I'd highly suggest looking into it. It's been a genuine life saver for me, but it's so obscure that even most doctors don't know it exists (or that it's prescribed to outpatients). I hope one day that changes! I mean, it literally cures the most talked about side effect of opioids, but its obscurity means that you could literally be a cancer patient and directly complain to your doctor about constipation and still not get it recommend it because they don't even know it's an option. If this post results in even one less person having to hand-scrape shit out of their own ass, I'll be happy haha.
