My previous employer has been withholding wages for months.
I’m looking for advice on how to handle a wage dispute with a former employer.
My previous boss has been withholding wages owed to me for several months. I eventually quit, but he still has not paid what I’m owed. The amount is relatively small, so several attorneys I contacted were not interested in taking the case.
The frustrating part is that this does not seem to be an isolated situation. I’m aware of other current and former employees who have reportedly had wages withheld or never been paid by the same employer. It seems like he continues doing this because he believes there will be no consequences.
At this point, I’m less concerned about recovering the money than I am about stopping this from happening to other employees. What options do I have? Should I file a complaint with the labor department, pursue small claims court, or take another approach?
I am located in Indiana
