Boomer in the ER

Boomer Story

Had to take my toddler to the ER around mindnight on a friday as he was super congested and having trouble breathing, with a very rough cough. Waiting room is pretty full, and at one point a nurse comes out to tell people they need to stop asking how long the wait is. After a bit, a nurse brought us to a little private room to wait because they wanted my son to be more comfortable.

While waiting, a boomer man was called up to finally see the nurse, and went into the room next to us. The walls were just dividers, so i could hear the nurse and him talking (not my choice).

He was there complaining about tinnitus. After some questioning the nurse pointed out that he had been in last month complaining of the same issue (in emergency). She asked if he had a family doctor (yes) and why he hadn't gone to them (mumble). He asked for a refill of some medicine and she said again that this is the ER and she can't give him medicine refills, asking why he hadn't seen his doctor (mumble again). At this point she told him to go home and make appointments with his doctor, and stop coming to the ER for this. He left.

There are a bunch of people here waiting hours, obviously unwell, and this guy is here to waste their time. Just the worst.

(Toddler is fine btw)

EDIT: I'm in Canada, so no cost for ER visit. A lot of people assume American medical syatem so just wanted add this.
