Returning player story question

I stopped playing right before sumeru and left for about a year. I debated coming back but was afraid bc of the amount of story there was and now this year I want to return and I was wondering just how much story is there.... I was going to wait till there was a skip button bc I personally like genshin for gameplay and not story but if I HAVE to play through the story I would like to know just how much there is.... in hours..or days...
