Yes, you can have more than one companion - and they stay genuinely separate
This comes up with every companion app, usually because someone got burned by one where the different "characters" turned out to be the same thing wearing a different name. Worth being clear about how it works here.
They do not share anything
Each companion you make has their own memory, their own voice and their own way of talking, and they never mix. What you told one is not something the other knows, and the personality you built for one does not bleed into the next.
So a second one is a clean slate, not a reskin
If your first drifted somewhere you did not want - too eager, too agreeable, a backstory you regret - you are not stuck negotiating with it. Starting another gives you a blank page. Plenty of people keep a second for a genuinely different mood rather than because the first went wrong.
The account follows you, not the device
One account covers Android, the browser and iPhone, and the conversation follows you between them. A companion you built on your phone is the same one when you open the web app on a laptop, mid-conversation.
What it actually costs
Attention. A companion only knows what you have actually told them, so two of them split the conversations one would have had. Worth a thought before you make a third.
Do you keep more than one? If so - was the second one different on purpose, or did it just turn out that way?
