I just finished my first model kit and would like to share the result!
I found out about model kits when I was a teen, 20 years ago, and could never afford an expensive hobby! I just randomly thought about this again recently and decided I’ll try it, now that I can afford it.🤭
I got this E2046 Super Sailor Moon 1/8 scale kit 2nd hand, but unused. I also found myself some nice inspo pics from the anime.
I did some research before I started but also just somewhat jumped into it. So I made plenty of mistakes and learned a few things from it. 😅 I struggled a lot with the primer I had used because it was so bumpy, found the skin tone too dark, the blue made me nuts because it never dried properly and smeared everywhere, I mixed up varnishes and made half the pieces I wanted to be matte glossy, I dropped the figure and the hair broke off, I definitely did not pin enough and I hated the gold paint I got (it was so dark and greenish 😵‍💫) and ended up with 20 layers of gold and a result (gold mica powder) that I like, were it not for the thick layer!
But some things also went well! One of the earrings was not really there when I got her so I just made it myself with green stuff(?) and it turned out looking good. I am also very happy with how the face turned out, since painting it was what scared me the most!
Next time I’ll definitely pin the whole thing together to see how the pieces fit together properly before I’ll paint and make sure there are no annoying seams between the pieces and I will also use a different primer.
I would be happy for some more tips from you guys for a beginner like me!
