Absolute beginner here, following the Awakened mission but got a bit lost—what should I be farming and where?

Hey everyone,
I recently started playing No Man's Sky on PS5 and the game is absolutely amazing, but I'll admit the sheer freedom and scale are starting to overwhelm me a bit.
Right now, I'm working through the Awakened starting mission. I was exploring some nearby planets, but the game just told me to head back to my base computer. Honestly, I'm feeling a bit turned around and not entirely sure what my priorities should be right now.
I'd love some quick advice from veteran players on a few things:
Essential Resources: What are the core materials I should always keep stocked in my inventory, and what's the fastest way to farm them without wasting tons of time?

Oxygen & Ship Fuel: I constantly run low on Oxygen and struggle to find it. Also, keeping my ship fueled—especially for the Pulse Engine (fast space travel on L1/R1)—is giving me a hard time. Is it better to shoot asteroids for Tritium, or should I just buy fuel from NPCs at space stations?

Focus: Should I strictly stick to the main story and log missions until it unlocks everything, or is it fine to wander off and explore random planets whenever I want?
