COGO Survey Calculator 2.1 is out: surveyor-requested fixes + Android closed beta coming soon

Hi everyone — I’m the developer of COGO Survey Calculator. Version 2.1 is now available on iPhone and iPad, and several changes came directly from working surveyors’ feedback. Thanks to everyone who pointed out what was missing or awkward to use.

A few things you can now do:

• Correct a traverse leg in place. Change its bearing, distance, point name, or curve, and the downstream coordinates, closure, area, and plot update.

• Enter mixed units on the same job: metres, feet, US survey feet, or links per leg.

• Read misclosure bearings in your preferred format: azimuth or quadrant, DMS or decimal, including in the plot and PDF report.

• Set your preferred units and direction-entry format once in Preferences.

• Use the new Line Tools for intersections, parallels, and perpendiculars; Common Tangent for tangents between two circles; and Two Unknowns for missing traverse bearings/distances, including offset inputs.

The app runs offline and also handles traverse checks, closure and adjustment, area, and DXF/CSV/PDF export.

I’d love some blunt feedback on 2.1: what calculation or field workflow still makes you reach for another tool? If something looks wrong, share the inputs, units, and expected result using a made-up or anonymised example so I can reproduce it.

Android is coming soon, and I’m looking for people interested in the closed beta. Want in? Comment “Android beta” below or send me a DM, ideally with your phone model and the first workflow you’d want to test. This is an interest call ahead of the beta, not a public Android release yet.

Surveyors, field crews, and students are all welcome. What should I improve next?
