AITA in this petty spat between longtime friends?

Hey all, trying to keep it brief, I (C, M33) and my friend (N, M35) are having a fight.

Basically, I am moving houses and was supposed to give N my nanoleaf panels for free because I no longer needed them, but while on the phone co-ordinate pickup, I said "just so you're aware, the house is a disaster right now" (because I'm moving), and he scoffed loudly and said in a belittling way "I never assumed it wouldn't be a disaster", laughed loudly, and it just struck a nerve.

Yes, I've had messy phases of my life, but I really feel I've made great strides forward in keeping spaces, and to be talked down to like that really insulted me after all the effort I felt I had been making in recent years. I didn't want to feel the (disgusting) feeling of giving a gift to someone actively belittling me, so I later texted him and said I wasn't giving them to him because of the comment. He basically responded with "if that's how you're going to treat someone who [has done all the things he's done for me], then whatever".

N has always been the one of us who is more materially successful, but for what it's worth, I have helped him whenever it was in my power to do so. I know he's been a good friend, and to me, this fight wasn't about that. It was just about not wanting to give a gift to someone insulting me. I don't want to ruin a friendship of 16 years over something this trivial, but I also just want to be talked to like an adult. I honestly feel really bad about the whole thing, and even though I feel validated in my choices, I don't want to torch a friendship over some dumb bullshit like this.

So, unwisely, I come to Reddit.

What do you think?.AITA? What should I do?
