A friend said art is an irrational pursuit detached from reality

Unsupportive Environment

He always says he doesn't like art or artists because he doesn't understand paintings or sculptures as to him, no matter how hard he tries they just don't make any sense to him, he's too "rational" for art. To him it looks like it's all about feelings and interpretations instead of facts and logic.

The biggest irony is that he likes anime, movies/shows and video games, especially stuff that leans towards historical accuracy or popular media, and sometimes likes some of my digital art too.

I tried to call him out on his thoughts as he claims he dislikes art yet still engages with games and anime but he dismissed that saying he doesn't consider that to be "art" in the same way a modern art gallery painting is art "you're cherry-picking, that's completely different".

Just wanted to put this out there.
