Apple Watch battery drops 1% every 1-2 mins in menu & overheats after full restore (Bought 2 days ago - Hardware issue?)
**Hi everyone,**
**I bought a used Apple Watch 8 series 2 days ago and I’m having a severe issue with it. I’m trying to figure out if this is definitely a hardware/motherboard defect or if there's any software fix I missed.**
**The Problem:**
**Rapid Battery Drain: Drops 1% every 1–2 minutes (roughly 6–8% every 10 minutes) just by navigating the system menu or during light use.**
**Overheating: The back of the watch gets noticeably hot to the touch very quickly.**
**Battery Health: Showing 91% in settings.**
**What I’ve already tried to fix it:**
**1. Unpaired & Erased: Performed a full unpair and re-paired it as a Set Up as New Apple Watch (no backup restored).**
**2. Fixed Stuck Downloads: Noticed some region-locked stock app icons (like Apple News) were stuck in an infinite downloading loop. Temporarily changed region to delete/remove them, and turned off Automatic Downloads in the Watch App Store settings.**
**3. Disabled Background Features: Turned off Background App Refresh completely.**
**4. Hard Reset: Performed a forced restart (Digital Crown + Side button).**
**Despite all of these steps, the watch still gets warm and rapidly loses 1% every 1-2 minutes during light use.**
**Since I just bought it 2 days ago, is it safe to assume this is a hardware issue (like Power IC failure or a short circuit on the board causing power leakage) and demand a return? Has anyone experienced this exact symptom where a full restore didn't fix the heat/drain issue?**
**Thanks for any insights!**
