My Opinion About Ishin.

Lore

When you kill Isshin, the Sword Saint, he surrenders to Sekiro and kneels down. Most players think he does this because he knows he has lost, not because he wanted to honor Sekiro, but in my opinion, Isshin wanted to honor Sekiro for his bravery.

He always says, “Hesitation is defeat,” and when you finally defeat him, he knows that he lost because Sekiro never hesitated. If Sekiro had hesitated even once, Isshin would have won.

Isshin always says, “Hesitation is defeat.” If he really wanted to kill Sekiro, he could have fought until his last breath, even after realizing that he had lost. His ego could have been like Genichiro’s.

But instead, he accepts his defeat and kneels before Sekiro. I think he does this because he recognizes Sekiro’s courage and skill, and by surrendering, he honors the warrior who defeated him without hesitation.
