Best examples of insecure fathers?

I am trying to write a fanfiction about a somewhat meek and insecure father atempting to reunite with his boy as they got seperated by the big bad. Part of his char journey is to figure out how to be a parent (while also navigate being dead, as hes now a ghost haunting his son.)

When I showed my draft to some trusted beta readers they described him as sniveling and insufferable. And I was not trying to give off that vibe.(I aint comfy enough to show it)

When I asked what good examples of insecure fathers existed that I can borrow some aspects from to strengthen my char they were unable to come up with any. I am sure Ive encountered some but I am drawing a blank.
