after centuries of reincarnations the Sohma family welcomes a 14th member to the Banquet

Good evening! I’m not sure how many people have watched/read Fruits Basket but if you haven’t i seriously recommend you do, it’s a great story

But enough of that!

The basis of my plot is what if the Sohma family discovered that this time there was a 14th animal destined to attend the Banquet! I’ll detail the character below. Who will you play? A canon character? Or perhaps your own OC. Will your character be one of the Zodiac themselves or will they be an outsider, having to navigate the unfamiliar (and possibly toxic) family dynamics of the Sohma estate. We can also explore why my character’s spirit had only now manifested and not appeared in previous cycles. Is it a similar case to the Cat where the vessel is usually shunned, or was it a genuine mistake that a vessel for this animal had only now been discovered?

One last disclaimer is that I’m completely blind IRL, as such my character is also blind

Now to discuss my character!

Name: Mika Sohma
Gender: cis woman
Age: 19
Zodiac: Phoenix
Profession: student at university
Bio: Her father is a distant cousin of the Sohma family whilst his wife from the south of Japan. The first surprise that caught the new parents off guard is Mika’s lack of sight. They rushed her to a doctor who confirmed their worst fears-the child was blind. This didn’t stop Mika from being a confident, outgoing child. Besides her lack of sight her upbringing was fairly normal, that was until her 19th birthday when she hugged her father and in a puff of violet smoke she transformed into a beautiful, radiant phoenix! Her parents were shocked, conflicting emotions at work. Her father knew of his duty to the Sohma family, but wasn’t sure if his daughter would be happy. Mika insisted on joining the other Zodiac, overjoyed at the thought of meeting these legendary figures and potentially being one of them herself!
Description: Mika is of average weight and build for a person of her age and gender. She has long, violet hair and cloudy purple eyes. Her skin is pale and she often wears kimono around the Sohma estate. On trips out of her home she opts to wear long, flowing skirts and nice blouses. She often wears opaque sunglasses to cover her eyes
