Gemini chats now have folders, full-text search and real export, including the conversations inside your Gems
I build AI Toolbox, a Chrome extension that adds the organization layer Gemini does not have yet. The Gemini module has been out for a few months and this is what it does now.
Folders and subfolders in the sidebar. Nest them as deep as you want, file a chat from its menu, and there is a toggle that hides chats you have already filed so the native list only shows the unsorted ones.
Search across your whole history, message text included, not just titles. Results show which messages matched, with the text highlighted.
Gem conversations are included in all of it. Chats you start inside a Gem live in a separate history bucket that Gemini's main list does not return, so they are normally invisible to any tool that reads that list. The extension enumerates your Gems and merges their conversations into the same index, so they show up in search, folders and export like any other chat.
Export any conversation as TXT, Markdown, JSON or PDF, or select many and get a ZIP. Markdown files carry the title, dates and a link back to the original chat at the top, so they drop into Obsidian or Notion as proper notes. Google Takeout gives you one big activity log of every prompt you have ever sent; this gives you one clean file per conversation.
Bookmarks on individual replies, with six color labels and notes, plus one panel listing every bookmark across every chat.
A prompt library you insert by typing // in the composer, with fill-in blanks, and saved prompt chains on ...
A context window meter next to the composer that shows how full the conversation is, which matters on Gemini because the free window is much smaller than the numbers in the announcements.
Free to try, no account to create, it uses the Google login you already have on the page. The free plan includes the meter, search, two folders, two saved prompts, two bookmarks and single-chat text export. The paid plan removes the caps. The same folders, prompts and bookmarks also work on ChatGPT, Claude and Grok if you use more than one.

Happy to answer anything about how it works, including what it does not do.
