Day 21 cold turkey anxiety, don’t know if I can stay strong.
I actually searched up years old Reddit posts. Some people say their anxiety got better and some people say they live with anxiety now. I already had anxiety. It’s the reason I started smoking. I’m afraid this crazy intense level of anxiety won’t get better. I’m struggling with so much because of it. I keep reaching for reassurance… it’s called an anxiety loop. nicotine withdrawal → anxiety → body awareness → reassurance → temporary relief → more checking → more anxiety → more body awareness → more reassurance → temporary relief → more checking → anxiety stays prominent. This has been my life for 3 weeks. I’m hyper aware also that nobody cares as much about it as I do because obviously I’m the one experiencing this right? But having this hyper awareness that no one cares is painful and scary. Having this hyper awareness of my body is scary. Everything is scary. I want to know when this ends but many people have said different things. A month, 2 months, 3 months. I want the anxiety to end NOW but I know it won’t. Unless I smoke. And I’m too scared to do that either, the fear really has a grip on me. I’m too scared. I really don’t know what to do. I wish I had a way to know for sure I’m gonna be ok. The fear is so isolating, so gripping. Is anyone else experiencing this crazy level of anxiety? I feel so alone. And it all feels so hopeless.
When did it get better for you?
