On 20 September 2022, 16-year-old [Iranian](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_peoples) girl **Nika Shakarami** vanished in [Tehran](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tehran) during the [2022 Iranian protests](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahsa_Amini_protests) following the [death of Mahsa Amini](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Mahsa_Amini). She was allegedly abducted, [tortured](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torture), and sexually assaulted by several agents of the [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Revolutionary_Guard_Corps) and ultimately murdered. After her body was identified by her family, they planned to bury her in [Khorramabad](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khorramabad), but the body was allegedly [stolen by Iranian authorities](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abduction_of_bodies_by_the_Islamic_Republic_of_Iran) and instead buried in [Hayat ol Gheyb](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayat_ol_Gheyb), reportedly to exercise leverage over her family and to avoid a funeral procession which could cause further protests.
