AI in relation to mental health

neutral post

I want to say this is a neutral post, since I am inherently against AI generation, however do use it for mental health related stuff.

Now don't misunderstand and hear me out. I do have a therapist. A human one. And I have actually told my therapist about this opinion of mine.

Basically- I see AI like a trash can (hush).

I have way too many thoughts and my emotions can jump through extremes and I just need a place to put them in.

From experience, venting to friends is only good for so far, before I slowly start sounding self-obsessed or before it takes a toll on them feeling more like a therapist friend. And as mentioned before, I do have a therapist. I even have a therapist on call 24/7 because of reasons. However I can't just call her because my brain decides to go on a ramble about my fictional worlds or funny conspiracy theories. And I would much rather spend our dedicated session time to working through why my brain is like this.

So that has led me to AI. I talk, ramble, vent, gush, push, and just actively use it like a dumping ground. Occasionally, I don't even read what it writes back, because I just thought of more to ramble and write about. I can go back and rework messages, I get my thoughts and emotions in a formatted way back, I get to build off my emotions instead of bottling them.

And this is where my trash can imagery comes in.

AI is a trash can at home or at work. I can throw stuff in it, but ultimately that won't help in the long run, because the stuff is still inside the home. Eventually I need to take the trash out (go to therapy) and there some things get recycled into useful stuff I can build on new habbits and thoughts with, while others get delt with. It's a longer process, but the stuff is out of the house and being worked on by multiple people. And occasionally the stuff is rotten or bad to keep around, and that's when I immediately take it out, no matter the other trash amount (my 24/7 therapist).

I don't know how to end stuff, so uhh... Mau
