The concept of Alia being a spy

Certain governments send spies to other countries where they build an entirely new life, fall in love, create a family, and pursue such average professions like teaching so no one finds them out. If he were to ever find out the woman he loved, who he thought loved him, was not at all who she said she was, Adam would crumble. Then he would protect his children because he's always had that instinct. I just think Alia is a boring character and replacement love interest but if Mafi (if I say her name 3 times will she see this post?) makes her a spy that would be soooo cool.
