After Abby’s, which one should I play?

Some years ago I played Tales of the Abbys. It became one of my favorite jrpgs. I love the world, the characters (Luke’s arc) and the overarching plot were fascinating. Only thing I would improve a bit is the ending (I love closed endings, and Abby’s leaves a bit opened who the character that appears right at the end is)

After Abby’s I tried Symphonia, as people say is the second best game in terms of story and characters (what I mostly look for in a jrpg). It was cool and with engaging story but unfortunately the game combat is too dated for my tastes. If it gets a proper remaster or remake in the future I will 100% play it

¿Which Tales game should I play next? As I said, I mainly look for characters, plot and an ending that satisfies and delivers (still now over Game of Thrones ending)
