Therapist said anxiety attacks don’t go away and we can’t expect them to
I had my second therapy appointment where we set our goals. I told her my goal is to have less panic attacks and anxiety so that I can do things such as go on a trip and feel excited rather than fearful.
I thought this was a great goal. But… she said “we can’t have that be our goal because anxiety and panic attacks don’t go away, we just learn to cope with them.”
Friends… Is this real life? I can’t comprehend this for the life of me.
I believe in healing. I believe I can absolutely live a life without panic attacks and unnecessary anxiety.
Maybe I shouldn’t work with someone who doesn’t believe in healing….?!
Any therapist (or anyone) want to shed some light on this?
I felt like all my dreams got dashed in one moment.
It was like someone saying “No you have to live with your abusive father and just learn to cope with it.”
