Did anyone make a change from working on projects before bed to working on projects before work?

Question

wee bit of context:

I work a day job, then get home and cook for the family. I usually finish up in the kitchen around 7:30/8:30 then try and do some coding practice or design stuff. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't - often when it does it follows an hour or so of procrastination and then I'll do 2 or 3 hrs. My brain isn't the sharpest at that time and if I've had a glass or wine at dinner or a beer or 2 it'll be pretty slow progress.

Thinking about shifting this part into the morning - i.e. hitting the hay around 10/10:30 pm then getting up around 5 or 5:30 - anyone had any success with this or similar? - Did you get more done after - any cons?
