Graphic Designer / Creative Collaborator Wanted in Mumbai (Western Line Preferred)

Please read the entire post before messaging. This is a serious creative collaboration, and I want to be transparent about what I’m looking for and what I can offer.

I’m looking for a graphic designer and illustrator to collaborate on an independent streetwear project currently in development.

The goal is to build a distinctive visual identity and develop original artwork for apparel, including typography, lettering, symbols, emblems, illustrations, graphic compositions, and screen-printing applications.

I’m interested in someone with an appreciation for historical typography, calligraphy, vintage print culture, graffiti, punk, hip-hop, and contemporary streetwear. These are references, not limitations—the intention is to create something original rather than copy existing aesthetics.

WHO I’M LOOKING FOR
This is not just a graphic execution role. I’m looking for someone who can genuinely contribute to the creative process.

The ability to draw and sketch confidently by hand is essential. You should be comfortable developing original concepts through drawing, illustration, and visual experimentation. This could include characters, symbols, objects, compositions, lettering, or any other artwork that can eventually be developed into apparel graphics.

You should also be able to translate rough ideas into refined digital artwork suitable for apparel and screen printing.

More importantly, I’m looking for someone with their own creative perspective. Someone who can bring ideas to the table rather than simply follow instructions, explore different directions, and remain persistent when the first idea doesn’t work.

I value creativity, curiosity, experimentation, and persistence. I’m looking for someone who is willing to keep refining an idea until it feels right instead of settling for the first acceptable result.

A formal qualification is not required. You can be a student, recent graduate, self-taught artist, independent designer, or someone building their portfolio. Drawing ability, portfolio quality, creative thinking, and commitment matter more than a degree.

LOCATION & COMMITMENT
Mumbai-based is essential, with preference given to people based along the Western Line or nearby.
The collaboration will be primarily in person, with approximately 2–3 sessions per week, around 3–4 hours per session, depending on the stage of the work and mutual availability.

Consistency and genuine involvement are important. This is not intended to be a one-off meeting or a quick freelance assignment.

COMPENSATION & ARRANGEMENT
This is an early-stage creative collaboration, not a conventional salaried position.

There is no fixed monthly salary during the initial development phase.

Travel expenses and food during working sessions will be covered.

Once the initial design direction and artwork are finalised, project-based compensation of up to ₹10,000 will be provided, depending on the scope and contribution.

For someone who becomes meaningfully involved beyond the initial development phase, a small equity participation may also be discussed.
I’m looking for a mutually respectful, long-term creative working relationship—not someone who simply completes a brief and moves on.
