TL;DR: placed on-campus for an 11lpa fulltime APM role, did 7 months as a "trainee", then laid off. now stuck in the 1 yoe wall for APM/product/AI roles
Got placed on campus for a full time APM role, 11 LPA. turns out that meant 7 months as a "GET trainee" at 25k/month first, was told conversion was basically automatic. did actual PM work the whole time though, owned stuff end to end, dealt with real stakeholders, real deliverables, worked with data, coordinated task allocation across a team of 5 devs, stayed till late night when needed. then the APM batch got cut with no conversion, some SDEs too, apparently over "higher business decisions".
Now trying to apply for APM / product / AI engineer / AI builder / FDE roles and literally every "entry level" posting still wants 1+ yoe. feels like the 7 months just don't exist on paper even though the work was very real.
Has anyone dealt with this before, how'd you get past the yoe filter without just lying on your resume? also ngl if anyone here's hiring or knows someone who is, happy to send my resume over, down to work hard and prove it.
