About Delta Company...

In the show, it’s pretty obvious that basically every Recon Marine dislikes Delta Company/the reservists. And not in the friendly “we’re better than you” kind of rivalry you see between Alpha and Bravo, but more like genuine contempt: “these guys are amateurs, trigger-happy wannabes,” etc.

But why though?

I get that reservists probably aren’t as consistently trained or as sharp as active-duty First Recon, but wouldn’t they have gone through the same elite Recon training before entering the reserves?

And more importantly, wouldn’t most of them be former members of the Recon community? You’d think a lot of the active-duty guys would have served alongside them at some point, or at least know who they are.

Instead, the show portrays Delta almost like a completely unknown outside unit, with Gunny Swarr being the exception...the one guy First Recon knows personally, who then tells them what Delta is like.

Am I misunderstanding how reserve Recon worked at the time?
