How to make friends in New York?

Hi, all! I’m a gay Brazilian woman trying to make friends in New York. I’m here for a year now. I’m shy and introspective at the beginning, but with time I open up.

Does anyone have suggestions of how to make friends over here?

I’m already using meetup app, but I feel I never find my “crew”.
