Help at (getting better at) training LoRa

I am trying to make a character LoRa about an alien species called Batarians, both to learn how to train LoRas and to get more tools for my CYOA. My first attempt was pretty basic, and I expected it to turn out quite bad. However, I don't understand why it went bad and how to solve it.

I used a dataset of 24 images, having care to diversify features as much as possible: portraits and medium shots and full body shots, males and females, in armour and without, SFW and NSFW. Preference has been given to photorealistic images, the higher the quality the better: the Batarians are a species in a videogame, which means that the original material is made rather low-poly renders, and I wanted this LoRa to be able to generate photorealistic content. The number of images is smaller than I wanted... but this is not something I could do something about it.

Dataset acquired and labelled, I went to Civitai and submitted it for my first try. Aside for specifying I wanted to use a specific checkpoint for generation, I left the default training parameters in place. Then told it to train and waited.

The results are... well, quite bad.

And this I expected! First try and all. But the way they are bad makes me think I am missing something. Not showing the correct number of nostrils, or not displaying the complex cartilagine network above the eyes? Fine, this I can understand. But showing me what seems a render from a videogame, which is exactly what I wanted to avoid (and what I have not put in the dataset!)? Or worse still, a low-poly render that seems taken from the very first 3D games ever existed? No, this I don't understand.

Civitai is asking me to 'Choose a model iteration from the results of your training run.' I first want to know: what is the problem?

Is the dataset wrong / not balanced / low quality / having problems? Have I set up wrong parameters? I just need to train my LoRa further? Or the problem can be solved in the next step (Edit model) of the Civitai LoRa training?
