Came back after 8-10 months and my old decks can't keep up with my new pod - looking for ideas decklists /commanders

Discussion

Long story short, I stopped playing about 8-10 months ago because my old pod fell apart (people moved away, a couple had kids). I recently found a new group and I'm happy with them, cool people and good vibe, I want to keep playing with them. The problem is my decks are getting completely run over and I'm not having any fun.

I used to play B2-B3, control pile and mostly slow stuff. This pod doesn't really do a rule 0 talk but at this point I have a good grasp of the decks and meta.

They say they don't like combo but non-deterministic combo is fine, which in practice means Vivi takes a 30 minute turn and burns out the whole table. They don't play any free fast mana either, I think I've only seen a [[Lotus Petal]], but I've already run into a [[Contamination]] and a [[Blood Moon]], and there were more than 3 game changers across the same deck.

Commanders I've played against so far: [[Y'shtola, Night's Blessed]], [[Vivi Ornitier]], [[Heartless Hidetsugu]], [[Maha, Its Feathers Night]], [[Kratos, God of War]], [[Kefka, Court Mage]].

I don't think it's worth upgrading my old commanders, the speed of these decks is just on another level, so I'm using this as an excuse to rebuild most of my stuff.

To be clear I'm not trying to pubstomp anybody and a bracket 4 that isn't presenting wins the Thoracle way is where I want to land. I just don't want to be dead on turn 5 or 6 without having played my deck because Kratos is putting 15-16 damage on someone.

As for how I like to play, I'm much more comfortable playing reactive/control. I'd rather answer the threats on the table and come up later in the game than be the one presenting a threat from turn 1. Given what this pod is doing, I'm guessing what I actually need is stax in the form of a hatebear deck, but I am open to build 2-3 decks from now on.

Open to commander suggestions or deck lists.

Thanks!
