R7 - display-switching fault/state issue

Tech Help

Im a wildlife photographer. When Im shooting I have the screen view display on Auto 1, so I can shoot through the viewfinder and check my settings, review my shot on the lcd screen.

Yesterday my lcd screen decided to change things up. Everything works as expected and set, except for this:

Once I'm done shooting a scene and remove my eye from the eyepiece, the lcd screen does not display anything. It is totally black. after much testing and various trials, this is what I've figured out. everything is working fine, its sensing when my eye is at the eyepiece and it is sensing when my eye leaves the eye piece, but it's not triggering for the LCD to come back on.

the lcd screen works fine if I then move it away from the flipped position on the back of the camera, the display comes on.

Am I looking at a repair shop or is this something that I can fix on my own. chatgpt has taken me this far, we've narrowed it down. but I don't know where to go from here.

I had a thought, might a factory reboot help this? is it software or hardware related? any advice is very welcome.
