19f with barely any friends into metal. Need advice
I recently got out of a relationship for my mental health and a big part of my social circle was basically made up of my ex boyfriend's friends, so now I feel like I've lost most of my social circle. I used to go to metal/rock/punk bars and concerts with them all the time.
I do have a few female friends (exactly 3) but none of them are really into metal or rock. I'm a pretty alternative girl, I have half red hair, a tattoo, I love metal/rock and the whole alternative scene but I don't really have anyone to share that with.
Like don't get me wrong, we hang out every now and then and I don't mind that we have completely different interests, but after getting used to being surrounded by metalheads (my ex's friends) I feel like I've lost part of my life. And it was really fun.
There's a small indoor concert happening about an hour away from where I live in 2 weeks and I'm seriously considering going alone. I actually think it could be a good opportunity to meet people who are into the same stuff.
The problem is that I'm pretty embarrassed about going completely alone. I'm worried I'll get there, enjoy the music and the atmosphere but then spend the entire night by myself without talking to anyone and nobody will approach me either. I know I shouldn't care that much but the idea of just standing there alone between sets while everyone else is with their friends makes me nervous.
For people who go to concerts alone or have met people at concerts: how do you actually meet people there? Do you usually talk to strangers or does it just happen naturally? And would you recommend going alone in my situation?
Ugh making friends is so difficult
