Looking for volunteer CAD help – handheld gradiometer prototype
Hi everyone,
I’m working on a personal hobby/research prototype for a handheld gradiometer / magnetometer. This is currently a non-commercial prototyping project and I’m not looking to manufacture or sell it at this stage.
I already have:
- concept renders,
- STL reference models,
- the main dimensions,
- the display model and specifications,
- a clear idea of the enclosure, handle and sensor-tube layout.
I’m looking for someone who enjoys mechanical CAD / product design / 3D printing and would be interested in helping me turn the concept into a proper printable prototype.
The main part I need help with is the controller enclosure and ergonomic handle:
- enclosure for a 4.3" ESP32-S3 touchscreen,
- internal PCB/display mounting points,
- screw bosses and removable covers,
- ergonomic handheld grip,
- mounting for a Ø40 mm carbon-fiber tube,
- cable passages,
- USB-C access,
- mounting provision for a GNSS antenna,
- split into a few practical FDM-printable parts.
I can provide all the STL files, measurements, screenshots and reference images. I can also test-print the revisions myself and give measurements/feedback after each test.
Ideally I’m looking for someone who uses Fusion 360, FreeCAD, SolidWorks or similar parametric CAD software and wants a real hardware project for practice or portfolio work.
I’m not expecting anyone to spend unlimited time on it. Even help with rebuilding the main enclosure and handle would be greatly appreciated.
The designer is welcome to use the finished prototype in their portfolio and I’m happy to give full design credit.
If this sounds interesting, please send me a message and I can share the STL, renders and dimensions.
Thank you!
