COBOX Might Be More Interesting Than I Initially Thought

I originally clicked on COBOX expecting the usual Web3 gaming pitch.

You know the one.

Metaverse. NFTs. AI. Blockchain. “Own your assets.” We’ve all seen it a hundred times.

But after actually looking through what they’re building, I think the game creation part is probably the thing worth watching.

COBOX is basically trying to make 3D multiplayer game creation accessible without requiring you to know how to code. Their current platform combines no-code creation with AI assistance, and the idea is that you can go from an idea to a playable experience without having to build everything from scratch. (COBOX)

That’s interesting to me because there’s no shortage of people who have game ideas.

The problem is actually building them.

You can have an idea for an RPG, racing game, horror game, whatever, but once you start thinking about programming, multiplayer infrastructure, assets, environments, physics, etc., the idea usually stays an idea.

COBOX seems to be attacking that problem from the other direction: make the creation process easier first, then build the ownership and monetization layer around it.

They’ve also recently gone live on BNB Chain, with their current ecosystem putting more emphasis on on-chain ownership and creator identity. Their team says more than 1,200 usernames have already been minted. (‏LinkedIn)

I’m not going to pretend I know whether this becomes a huge gaming platform.

I don’t.

But I do think the underlying question is interesting:

What happens if making a decent multiplayer 3D game becomes accessible to someone who can’t code?

That’s what I’d actually like to test.

If anyone here has used COBOX already, I’d be much more interested in your experience with the actual creation tools than the marketing.
