Am I starting to hate accounting, or is my company just poorly organized?

I recently started working as an accountant in a company where I’m supposed to be learning and developing my accounting skills.
But I’m honestly struggling with the organization. My direct manager is supposed to guide me, but he’s often busy or arrives late, and I sometimes can’t complete tasks because the necessary documents or information are missing.
There was also a situation involving a cash difference. I was blamed for the difference, but the payment evidence I needed to record and deduct the amount from the system had not been sent to me by my manager. So I was expected to have the correct cash balance without having the information needed to make the adjustment.
At the same time, management seems to think I’m learning slowly. Maybe I do need to improve, but it’s difficult to learn quickly when processes aren’t clearly organized and information isn’t available when you need it.
Honestly, I’ve reached the point where I’m starting to regret choosing accounting as a career.
So I’m wondering:
Is this just what accounting is like — constantly investigating, chasing documents and asking people for information — or am I simply working in a poorly organized company?
I’m genuinely trying to figure out whether I dislike accounting itself, or whether I dislike the way accounting is being done in my current workplace.
