Can I hang a Rothko painting horizontally?

I am looking to buy a Mark Rothko print to hang above my bed. I have a king bed, so I want something horizontal and most, if not all, of his pieces are vertical. I showed my roommate and he insisted that it be hung horizontally, as all Rothko paintings are. What if I hung it horizontally...?
