I'm genuinely SO tired of this

🖤vent🖤

I'm so sick of people being weird to me because of the age gaps between me and my boyfriends. And it's never even been a problem until now. There's decent age gaps between me and my other boyfriends, but it's never even been a problem until I started dating Pete. He doesn't have a canon age, but going off his actor's age he's about 23 in the first movie and 59 in the sequel. I'm 20, I'll be 21 later this year. I'm not gonna age myself up just so there's less of an age gap. There's no similarly aged OC, there's no aged up sona, I'm dating him as I am.

Even though I'm not a yumeshipper, I participate in the yumeshipping subreddit often. I never post in there, I just respond to prompts and stuff. But I'm thinking I might just leave that subreddit if this keeps happening. Most of the people there have been chill and really sweet, but some of the people over there are just so weird about our age gap. One time there was a prompt that was literally asking "what's the age gap between you and your f/o" and I said our age gap was nearly 40 years and how I see Bradley as my son because of the father son relationship him and Pete have. He doesn't have a canon age either but he's a toddler in the first movie so he's about 40 in the sequel. And this person responded to me and genuinely tried to argue about my relationship with Bradley. They tried to argue that me and Bradley have more of a brotherly relationship because he's older than me. No, I said he's my son for a reason. They were also really awful about the age gap between me and Pete, when the prompt was literally asking about age gaps. Earlier today there was another prompt asking about familial f/os and someone commented about Pete being their dad. I love talking to familial fictos and yumes of my boyfriends, and I love yapping about a character we both love in different ways. But they responded back saying something along the lines of "I don't think Pete would date someone young enough to be his child" They said it was fine if I was referring to Pete from the original movie, but not if I was talking about the sequel. Like why is it fine if I were talking about his younger self, but not when I'm talking about him now???

I'm so tired of people infantalizing me because we have a big age gap. I'm a grown man who's perfectly capable of consent. People keep treating me like I'm a damn child. It's not even like I'm freshly 18, I'm nearly 21 omfg.

There was someone on TikTok who compared our age gap to literal pedophilia. There was a video about someone who was also 20 and their f/o was in their 60's. Everyone in the comments was hating on them, so I commented defending them and mentioned the age gap between Pete and I. And this dumbass responded saying it's comparable to pedophilia??? As if I'm not an adult, I am not a child.

Why is it okay when someone has an f/o who's hundreds or even thousands of years old (obviously that's okay, I'm not arguing that), but why is it bad when I'm dating someone in his late 50's? Why is it bad because we have a big age gap??

I don't feel like I belong in any ficto (or even yume) spaces except here. Everybody has been so awful to me just because we have a large age gap and I'm tired of it. I just want us to be treated like any other couple. There's age gaps between me and my other boyfriends too, but people have only been weird about Pete and I.

I'll be honest, I have daddy issues. I don't have the best relationship with my irl dad. And because of that I seek solace in older men. Even before my relationship with my dad started going downhill, I was attracted to older men. This isn't a new thing.

I love Pete for who he is. I don't care how old he is, I love him how he is. At the same time I'm just tired of people acting awful towards the both of us because of how old he is.
