Some connections feel so unreal that you don't notice yourself changing until one day you catch yourself doing things you never used to do.

You wait for their messages. Remember the smallest details they mentioned in passing. Stay awake a little longer because somehow, sleep can wait, but this conversation cannot. You become softer without meaning to, more open, more willing to let certain thoughts escape the places where you usually keep them locked away.

And the strange part is, they never asked you to become any of this.

It simply happens somewhere between the late night conversations, the comfortable silences, the little things they remember and the things you slowly begin telling them.

Maybe that is how they reach the places in you that you had stopped visiting yourself.

For me, it was an insecurity I had carried for so long that I had forgotten what it felt like without the guilt attached to it. I had built an entire version of myself around believing it mattered that it made me smaller somehow, that I had to carry the shame of it wherever I went.

Then one day, they said something so simple that I almost missed what it did to me.

I woke up the next morning and the insecurity was still there.

But the burden wasn't.

Nothing had magically disappeared. I was still me, with the same memories and the same little doubts. Yet something had moved. A quiet shift I couldn't quite name, as if a room I had spent years fearing had suddenly become easier to breathe in.

And perhaps that is the most beautiful thing about certain connections.

They don't come into your life to repair you. They simply make you feel safe enough to look at the parts of yourself you had been afraid of.

You start talking more. Feeling more. Living a little differently.

And somewhere along the way, you realize you were never becoming someone else. You were only becoming less afraid of being yourself.

Maybe that's why some people feel almost unreal.

They don't change your life by giving you something new.

They change it by making you realize that something you thought you had lost was never lost at all.

And that realization is almost frightening.

Because what do you do with all the weight once you no longer have to carry it?

For the first time, you stop asking yourself why you were never enough.

***You simply let that version of you scatter...***

And when you finally step outside the room, you look back and realize

***the doors had been there all along***.
