Accidentally weaned my 23mo

Weaning

Not sure if I’m looking for advice or reassurance here - my daughter has been EBF (no pumping/bottles) her whole life but we’ve got to the point recently where she can only get milk for 5 mins or so each feed, and only 2-3 times per day.

I started back at work this week (staying away from home during the week) but neither of us were ready to wean, so I just pumped using the haakaa whilst I was gone, then late last night I got home and she breastfed, then again this morning. However for nap time and bedtime today I’ve literally had no milk at all… when pumping at work was getting like 50 ml sometimes! I’m so surprised that I would suddenly dry up to that extent.

I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else had their supply completely dry up like that, when breastfeeding around this age, and how it worked out for you both? Did it come back at all? My daughter seems to be handling it well - she’s happy to suckle just for comfort at the moment!

I always dreaded the end of this journey and I’m also wondering if it is for the best that the decision maybe have been made for us!
