I can easily remove dead skin from with just a little bit of friction and a shower

Viewer discretion is advised. I’m curious if this post makes you go “wtf” or if someone else can corroborate my experience

___________

So I’m remembering a time where I used to be able to go into dry sauna where the humidity and temperature got well into the high 90s. This was well before the medications and worsening hEDS made it impossible to tolerate the heat.

I recall being able to just apply some friction to my arms and boom: I could just brush the dead skin off. My brother at the time was like “wtf that’s disgusting.” It’s like the residue leftover when you roll bread dough.

Now that I’m using lactic acid lotion for a mild case of hyperkeratosis pilaris, this has become even easier. If my skin is sufficiently wet and exfoliated, dead skin just comes off effortlessly. I don’t even have to use anything to scrub. I have to be discrete about it, because I can sometimes start to develop this problem during the summer when rubbing on sunscreen.

I only remembered this weird fact about myself after my last post about having extremely dry lips that wouldn’t resolve. I’m finding the same to be true there, where dead skin just seems to come off (but visibly).
