Have you ever noticed a scalp condition or disease in a loved one? How did you handle it?

Barber

For a bit of background, I’ve been a barber for about 3 years now. I’ve seen plenty of alopecia, eczema, psoriasis, etc behind the chair and I’ve had no problems bringing it up to my clients and ensuring they’re aware of any scalp issues. However, this is my first time noticing what I think is retrograde alopecia in someone who is very close to me and I’m nervous to tell them what I’m seeing. It’s much easier to tell a stranger as a professional and I’m having trouble finding a way to discuss this with them as the conversation would most likely happen at home rather than in the shop which makes it a LOT more personal. I’m not trying to diagnose, obviously, but I’m looking for advice on how to bring up that they might want to see a doctor about it. Any advice or stories would be greatly appreciated and would help me feel less alone in this position. Thanks!
