SI joint pain since over months, wondering is people have similar experiences?
Hello,
I’m 30f, ive been moderately active through my 20s, however last two years due to an injury on my ankle I had stopped regular yoga and since then my exercising has been in bouts. About 4-5 months ago I woke up one morning to an extremely painful sharp pain in my left si joint. I went to PT and did a bunch of exercises, but nothing helped. The left si joint and butt and groin would ache all the time and get worse when i sit or stand for too long. Lying down was also painful. About 3 months ago, the same thing started happening on the right side as well.
It works strangely now, where near the left si joint I get a sharp pain but it doesn’t radiate much beyond my left butt and groin. The right side however is a more diffused pain but feels like the entire area where my leg attaches to my trunk hurts. I have some days where the pain is lesser but then it flares up again and I’ve been stuck in this cycle with no respite.
I’ve tried nsaids and muscle relaxants and such but nothing works on the pain. An opiod worked for a day but i had horrible side effects.
I’ve been doing regular pt exercises- stretching and strengthening but can’t tell if they are helping.
I did get an mri of my lumbar sacral region which showed that I have bilaterally sacrilization of l5 vertebra but the ortho thinks that’s not an explanation for the pain.
Does anyone else have a similar experience?
