Left mca stroke

while looking at ct for ear infection found I had a left mca stroke , but I don’t know when it happened
Can I experience that bad of a stroke and not know
I have always had right sided weakness, difference I just always thought it was because I’m left handed, how common is finding a stroke without knowing
Now on statins and aspirin - waiting to see a neurologist
