Why is it called "Sorry Day"?

Get it is for indigenous people but isn't the word "sorry" too casual?

As a Canadian, we have a similar day but it is called "Truth and Reconciliation Day".

If we called it "Sorry Day" people would be insulted because of how casual it is.

Is the word seen as more serious in Australia?
