Who is in the wrong in this situation? (I have OCD/Anxiety)
I had another argument with my mother that shouldn’t have happened, but because I struggle with mental health (OCD & Anxiety) and I’m currently questioning what I did for our conversation to end the way it did.
To describe my mother’s personality, she is very short tempered. I have never felt comfortable with venting to her about my mental health because there has been times where I have tried to vent to her and she will walk away as I speak, has rushed me because she doesn’t want to hear me talk, and tells me very rudely that I need psychological help.
Sometimes, I have trouble with processing information and my memory can be bad, so I always ask people to repeat what they say when they explain something to me so I can fully understand.
Well, I asked my mom to repeat something she told me because I didn’t know how to do this one particular thing and I wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly. I also ask questions a lot so I can learn better, that has always worked for me.
But instead of simply repeating herself, she yelled at me saying that I don’t listen to her and that I talk too much, since I asked a lot of questions.
She has done this many times before so this time, I nicely asked her to stop making mean comments towards me. I wasn’t looking for an argument, I just wanted her to repeat herself one more time so I can understand. But instead, she called me disrespectful for expressing my feelings to her and she said that God will punish me.
After she told me this, I cried for a long time and had a panic attack, I questioned if I was the one who caused problems in the first place. She is never the type to apologize or take accountability for being wrong, so I always take the blame.
In this situation, who was in the wrong? I’ve been thinking about this for a few hours now. I just need a second opinion because after that, I’m nervous to even communicate with her again.
