My MK 6 GTI is in shambles and I don’t know where to begin or if it’s worth it as I’m poor.
Hello, I am on mobile so please forgive if the format is funky. Also I never post but I have no one to turn to regarding this.
I have had this beautiful two door hatchback for 6 years and it has been nothing but trouble for around 3. At the moment; it’s leaking oil really bad, the battery won’t stay charged after I turn the car off( I have to use a jump box every time I turn it on), the AC doesn’t work, the sunroof opens by itself, the trunk stopped latching, the vacuum pump needs replaced, the secondary air pipes are separating.
It’s just been so hard to keep up with repairs when it’s one thing after another. I’m a 30 year old woman with minimal knowledge of anything mechanical. I’m at the point where I can’t even update my tags because my car won’t pass emissions. The repairs I need are running up to around $3,000. The repairs I’ve had done are close to $2,500. I still owe $6,000 on my car loan.
Everyone tells me to try to trade my car in or get a new car, but I love my car to BITS. I love its little eggy shape and the plaid seats. I love everything about my car! When it’s working…
So I guess my question is, should I seriously look into trading it in and cutting my losses, or am I right in that it’s worth it to keep trying? Is this a toxic relationship??? Lol
