USB-C power supply for soldering iron issue

Soldering Newbie Requesting Direction | Help

Hello,

I bought a Yihua 928d IV 60W iron and a 65W power supply meant for laptops (the usb-c cable is not removable) to go with it. But often times the iron shows the power supply negotiation status as "er" and locks to 5V only. I somehow figured out that unplugging, waiting for some time, replugging and quickly turning on make it work correctly by setting to 20V. The iron is by default set to AUTO. I can explicitly tell it to do QC/PD but that doesn't help either. If I get it to 20V, I can still turn it off for sometime and turn it on. But if wait long enough, it still locks to 5V. Any pointers?

Thanks
