Wanting advice from players as a DM
So I'm wanting to get into being a professional DM, I've read a lot about it, and I know it's a lot of work and longer hours than what's on the tin if you will (session prep usually being the culprit of long hours) but regardless it's something I've decided I want to try doing
That said. I also know since the sessions are paid sessions, there's a higher expectation on the DM than there would be in a setting where everyone knows each other and are friends. What kind of things would you guys as a player look for in a paid session, or expect from a DM?
Right now, I play on roll20, and I've deeply familiarized myself with how to set up dynamic lighting, setting dark vision for players, how to enable and automate the advanced character stat tracking on tokens. I've also built random encounter tables that my current players (it's a friend group) like to roll off of, and I have my associates in creative writing so I'm really good at making compelling storylines. But I want to make sure the players who opt into one of my tables feels like they get their money's worth out of the experience and that it's a positive thing for them.
