Description: Kellan Krestloe, a powerful Fire Elemental, leads a student gang amongst fellow peers all fighting their way out of Nexus Hall. Saraya Myri, a bookish Visionary with a sharp tongue, is belittled both for having what is assumed to be a weaker power.

A simple reshuffling of a friendship group shouldn’t lead to war. Nor should thirteen-year-old Saraya have to look over her shoulder in fear of vengeful ex-unit members for the rest of the school year. But at Nexus Hall, where loyalties mean life and death, and units are built on reputation, her mistake is deadly.

At fourteen years old, Kellan has already surpassed many of his older, more experienced peers, and has gained the favour of his prickly headmaster. For this favour, he earns a gift. To welcome the descendant of a past king and son of a spymaster, Edmus Daval, to Nexus Hall … and look the other way as he carries out his secret mission for the Queen.

There is only a month and a half until the battle of their lives, and everything rests on Saraya and Kellan mending bridges. The problem here is that Kellan knows it is only a matter of time before Edmus returns to the Queen's court—with Saraya at his side.
