Gangs irl
Ballas and Families are Crips, the game tells about the civil war of the Crips gang in the 90s.
1 - Ballas is a gang founded in the Jefferson area in the 1970s. In real life, Jefferson County overlaps with Watts County in Los Angeles, and there is a purple Crips gang in the Watts area called the Grape Watts Street Crips. There were no Bloods gangs wearing purple back then.
Just like in Crips, gang members write the letter "C" into the camera and call each other "Cuz".
Ballas Kilo Tray Ballas Subset; Eight Kilo was inspired by Tray Crips, while Rollin Heights Ballas was inspired by Rollin 60's Neighborhood Crips.
2 - Grove Street Families gets its green color and location from the Kelly Park Compton Crips gang, and the rapper Eazzy-E, from whom Ryder takes his appearance in the game, is also a member of the Kelly Park Compton Crips in real life. The Ganton area was actually inspired by the Compton area.
The Ballas' founding set, Rollin Height, was inspired by the Ballas' war with the Grove Street Families, possibly the war between the Hoover Crips and the Rollin' 60's Neighborhood Crips.
Temple Drive Families were probably inspired by Atlantic Drive Crips
Also, CJ's voice actor is a member of Crips.
(Sorry for the spelling mistakes, I don't know much English.)
